Ingredients
  

Cupcake Batter

  • 1 box white cake mix
  • as required eggs, oil, and water as required by cake mix
  • cup red, white, and blue jimmies sprinkles

Frosting and Toppings

  • 4 cups white frosting
  • 2-3 tablespoons red, white, and blue star sprinkles
  • 4-5 cups red, white, and blue M and Ms or similar candies

Preparation

  • Prepare the cake batter according to package directions. For better flavor, you can add sour cream, pudding mix, and use milk instead of water.
  • Stir red, white, and blue sprinkles into the batter to create a colorful confetti effect.
  • Divide the batter evenly into lined cupcake pans and bake as directed. Allow cupcakes to cool completely before decorating.
  • Pipe or spread a thick layer of white frosting on each cupcake. Immediately add star sprinkles so they stick properly.
  • Fill plastic glasses about two thirds full with candy. Place each cupcake on top so it sits securely and is easy to serve.

Notes

Add sprinkles right after frosting so they stick well. You can also enhance the cake mix with sour cream or pudding for a richer flavor. Make sure frosting is thick enough to hold its shape.
