Preparation Steps
Peel and core the apples, then cut them into even sliced wedges.
In a medium-sized saucepan, melt the butter with the sugar and bring to a boil. Once boiling, reduce heat to low and stir in the vanilla, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
Add the sliced apples to the pot and bring the mixture back to a boil. Reduce the heat to low-medium and simmer for 10-15 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the apples are soft and fork-tender, not mushy. Remove from heat.
