Ingredients
  

For the Potatoes

  • 3 lbs Yukon Gold or Russet Potatoes Yukon Golds provide a creamy texture

For the Cream Mixture

  • 1 cup Heavy Cream Adds richness
  • 1 cup Whole Milk Balances the heavy cream
  • 4 cloves Garlic (minced) Adjust based on taste preference
  • 4 tablespoons Butter (melted) Also used for greasing the dish
  • Salt to taste
  • Black Pepper to taste
  • 1 teaspoon Dried Thyme (optional) Fresh thyme can be used for more flavor

For the Topping

  • 1.5 cups Freshly Grated Parmesan Cheese Avoid pre-shredded for better melting
  • 1 tablespoon Fresh Parsley (garnish) Optional but highly recommended!

Instructions
 

Method

  • Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a 9x13 inch baking dish with melted butter.
  • Wash and slice the potatoes thinly, about ⅛ inch.
  • Whisk together the heavy cream, whole milk, melted butter, minced garlic, salt, pepper, and thyme in a mixing bowl.
  • Layer half of the sliced potatoes in the baking dish, pouring half of the cream mixture over them.
  • Repeat with the remaining potatoes and cream mixture.
  • Press down gently on the layered potatoes and sprinkle the reserved Parmesan evenly on top.
  • Cover with foil and bake for 35 minutes; remove foil and bake for an additional 25-30 minutes.
  • Broil for 2-3 minutes if desired for an extra crispy top.
  • Let rest for about 10 minutes before serving; garnish with fresh parsley.
